I worked at Hyundai Motor America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

New building that offers an employee cafeteria, dry cleaning, and an employee gym. Company also offers employee leases for all Hyundai and Genesis models.

    Cons

Oppressive South Korean micromanagement stifles the ability of American managers to react and adapt to the rapidly changing tastes of the American consumer. As a result, Hyundai missed the opportunity to move from a heavy emphasis on passenger cars to crossovers and SUVS. Rather than respecting and listening to American managers with decades of experience in the automotive sector, the parent company would routinely...

I have been working at Hyundai Motor America full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Great American staff. A lot of great employees around the building but they left or were let go. Located in Orange County. Great training for the next company that hires you (and pays you what you are worth).

      Cons

5 year vision plan. Korean Coordinators are completely incompetent. Korean CEO has no experience in auto market, in USA or anywhere else! Parking. Hire from the outside for Director, VP level and higher. Finance dept profits off employee lease program so many people lease other brand car. Security, visiting Korean staff run around the office unchecked and rummage through your desk and belongings on weekends and...

      Advice to Management

Promote your talented people or prepare to lose them. Hire a CEO with a vision and a strategy. Hire VPs that have field experience. Be flexible to market demands, plant must be able to switch car/truck mix quickly.

        Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Hyundai Motor America full-time for more than a year

        Pros

Good Pay, good company culture, and for those of you that enjoy a fast and lean environment Hyundai is definitely the place for you.

        Cons

Although I enjoy a lean fast paced environment on occasion this tends to happen frequently at Hyundai. Moving up in the company can also be difficult.

        Advice to Management

Promote from within and look to add younger employees to the workforce to diversify.

I have been working at Hyundai Motor America full-time for more than 5 years

        Pros

        - Lots of lazy people so if you work hard you can get ahead - Little employee engagement so you can be the star

        Cons

        - CEO has no experience in US Market - Executive Team - Executives - Corporate news and announcements comes from Automotive News, Jalopnik or your Google alert - Hire from the outside for leadership roles - If you don't drive a Hyundai you "get in trouble", the CEO is watching this!!! Yes, Really!!!!!!!!!

        Advice to Management

Spend less time in meetings and take management classes on how by executives. Hire your Temps and Contractors that you want to retain. Promote from within, too many confused people getting hired from the outside and can't handle their jobs. Parking structure Gestapo tactics should be eliminated. 50% of the work force is Temps and Contractors that do not get the expensive lease car "benefit".
