I have been working at Hyundai Motor America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Paycheck every two weeks. Manager level receives a car stipend. Holiday shutdown. Ok benefits. Onsite gym that no one has time to use. Product has improved and lineup is finally being mixed. There are some talented folks here which you may be fortunate to work with. Your satisfaction will entirely depend on which department you are in and who is your SGM. There are a number of people who are happy but...

    Cons

... most folks would gladly take a lateral job elsewhere regardless of what they state in “confidential” employee surveys. Large amount of leadership/SGMs are ineffective and/or have poor insincere people skills. COO and new CEO seem to be good hires and smart, but have bigger issues than low morale. Dealers do not like us and hate Genesis which is also apparently a worse place to work unless marketing. Regions do not...

    Advice to Management

Bad move kicking off your “Let’s make Hyundai a great place to work again” 2019 campaign with a mandatory all day HR session about proper manners and micro-aggressions. Couldn’t the kick-off have been something more rewarding and light-hearted? More importantly, how about not promoting folks to begin with who are known to make everyone else not feel great? How about our doing the job of several people at other OEs and...

I worked at Hyundai Motor America

    Pros

Good product , lots of potential.

    Cons

Unskilled management, don’t care about rank and file, don’t recognize employees over the top efforts. Glass ceiling between Korean and US management; Koreans have all the power and no idea how to control market. Want to work somewhere you have no voice or opportunity? Welcome to HMA

    Advice to Management

Quit now and avoid further embarrassment.

I have been working at Hyundai Motor America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Good people & job security

    Cons

Koreans have been in the US market for 30 years and still have zero understanding of it. Korean staff are here for 4-year terms and do not care about growing the brand. They only care about hitting an objective by hook or by crook. Each month the staff works fruitlessly to make an impact in the market but it is impossible to make a real, long-term difference. It's not...

    Advice to Management

You may not have authority to impact the way Koreans do business in the US (or at least continue to try) but you do have the authority to streamline processes and make the working environment easier to maneuver.

I worked at Hyundai Motor America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The quality is better than Toyota and Honda. Best warranty in America.

    Cons

The worst bonus system. You have to tell the customer to lie on the survey. Hyundai sends surveys to all customers after 2 weeks of taking delivery. The survey asks customers to rate there overall experience. Its from 1-10. In order to qualify for your bonus you need a score of 930 overall. If you have one customer who gives you less than 7 your tanked and wont make any money for a while. If you get 2 customers that tank...

Stop talking in Korean if not everyone in the room can understand. Its rude.
