    Poor management

Jun 5, 2020 - Senior Engineer in Northville, MI
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

It is good for 1-2 years max, then you start to realize how poor the management is in this place. Vacation time is generous, but you have to use vacation for any sick time.

    Cons

Benefits are poor, medical provider changes way too often. Management is not transparent, layoffs every year.

    Company has lost all direction

Apr 24, 2020 - Calibration Engineer in Northville, MI
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Vacation time is generous. (no sick days though, so don't get sick)

    Cons

Benefits are OK at best (401k match maxed at 5k, which is super low for the industry). Pay is on the lower end of industry, yearly increases are very low usually do not cover cost of living/ inflation. Management has ZERO accountability, everyone will sit in a meeting and just talk about what could be done when it comes to do it no one will do anything. The entire company is "all talk". When you are working on a project expect the direction from management to change 50 times a day (not customer driven changes).

    Lost Momentum after 2015

Feb 29, 2020 - Technical Specialist in Northville, MI
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

During the period 2010-2015 IAV had great employee friendly policies, customer satisfaction and growing client base

    Cons

I have seen IAV Inc which is a US Subsidiary of IAV GmBH grew fast during my initial years and for some unknown reasons the Leadership from Germany lost focus on their Business Strategy which eventually led to layoffs, people leaving the company and lost business.

Chaotic, headless organization/serves only as sales office for IAV Germany services.

Dec 4, 2019 - Human Resources Assistant in Northview, MI
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

20 PTO days and 13 Holidays -> however, if you are laid off (BTW annual layoffs in October / November) you will lose your PTO / Holiday hours -> unpaid. If you are interested in consulting look for better options such as AVL, FEV or Roush. Org charts are irrelevant, as you can use any title and you will be working with different teams with quite different responsibilities (chaos). Employee evaluations are difficult, since some employee might have had 4 or 5 different supervisors...the result is poor evaluation results -> no/low salary increases

    Cons

2018 HR Survey (Facts): 70% of employees rate morale as low. Average tenure goes from 2 years to 5 years depending on group/team. Reasons: lack of career planning, lack of communication/cooperation, false immigration promises (22%), no knowledge transfer from Germany to local teams. 88% of resignations are from millennials.
