I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good health plan, good work environment, flexibility in work timings, good immigration team to help with. Various clients available to work with.

    Cons

This company ( IBM India US) pays less when compared to US market average. Management is not convinced for hikes. Difficult to get promotion.

    Advice to Management

    Be more employee friendly

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Tremendous work flexibilty in terms of when and where to work. Depending on job may work with some of the best minds in the industry. Salary and benefits are competitive, however the cost of living in the Poughkeepsie, NY location has gotten dramaticly more expensive over the past few years but salaries haven't nearly kept up to make it worthwhile to live/work here instead of for example a place like Austin, TX.

    Cons

Stagnant salary and career growth. New hires fleeing due to uninpired leadership and work. Very low morale. High cost of living and not other opportunities in the area outside of IBM keeps salaries down.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on employees instead of just the bottom line and you may be surprised as the impact on the bottom line

    Pros

Many opportunities if you want to travel. Working directly for a client can be rewarding.

    Cons

Many opportunities, BUT you have to travel. There is really no work-life balance. If you are supporting commercial clients, the clients come first above everything else. If you are in the I/T side of the business, you have no work-life balance. The 100% expectation is to be "on the road". Nothing else matters and there is no sympathy from exec management. IBM has spun the media on this and it is beyond me why the covers do not get blown off on this issue.

    Advice to Management

Quit offshoring talented workers. You are killing the company in the long run.
