    I worked at IBM full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    * As long as they're happy with your work, they will work to keep you happy * Good work/life balance * Good salary and benefits * Incredible variety of work possibilities

    Cons

    * IBM expects good work and good team interaction....not a place for brilliant lone workers * As a big company, IBM can be somewhat cumbersome with administrative requirements

    I worked at IBM full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    IBM has some of the nicest work facilities of any tech company in Silicon Valley. Location of software development facilities is near the edge of town with plenty of residential housing so no need for a long commute to work.

    Cons

    Pay and promotions are hard to come by after the first few years. Your once competitive entry-level compensation can quickly become non-competitive after just a few short years.
