I have been working at IBM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Really friendly and supportive people in my team. Have been working as an Intern since six months and have nothing to complain about. It entirely depends on what team you get to work with and how well you manager communicated your responsibilities to you and make sure you are not lost as an Intern (Which usually is bound to happen eventually).

    Cons

A bigger facility with some recreation activities would have been great to motivate the employees.

    Advice to Management

    More intern seminars
Job shadowing in other career areas

I worked at IBM as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Flexible structure allows employees to easily move around and find positions that fit for them
    - Wealth of experience within the labs, and most employees are easy to approach with questions when you are still a new employee

    Cons

    - Information travelled slow from upper management to the workers. Expecting to spend a week every month on 12-14 hour shifts because work reached us last minute wasn't uncommon.
    - Referrals from management were actively discouraged and there is a beefy non-disclosure agreement. New employees should either seek to solidify their position at IBM long term, or leave as soon as possible as this experience is not a resume builder.

    Advice to Management

My experiences may differ from many other teams, but I found a large lack of moral. If employees had a closer involvement to the products they work on, I think the situation would have been greatly improved.

    Pros

Friendly Staff that are helpful and generally knowledgeable
Nice office space with pool table, relaxing area, cafeteria, Tim Hortons on site

    Cons

    Lots of busy works
One or two VERY busy days then no work for a week or two
    Lack of enthusiasm
Most work was done with teams overseas that slow down communication, one email sent then waiting until the next day for them to reply and so on.
