    Pros

    Work from home opportunities, and decent benifits

    Cons

    Offshoring all jobs to cut cost, which will eventually fire back. Most of the clients are now dropping IBM because of poor quality of service. IBM has now become a joke. Stay away from this company.

    Pros

    It is a good name, looks good on the resume. If you worked here, you are probably smart and that should help you.

    Cons

    There is a book , "A View from Beneath the Dancing Elephant".
    I did not read it, but the title is great. There is a saying, "RAs are family matter", such as people actually try to make a living and support families while the elephant is stumping around them.

    Very bureaucratic and inhuman, people are only resources. If you spend at least 3 years here, you will notice that half of the people you worked with are gone by that time. Extreme amount of talent is let go by the constant RAs. At the same time the company is hiring new people for the same skill set. I have not seen any effort to match existing talents with opportunities. I actually would like to see proactive management of the work force by constant training, re-training, cross-training according to the changing need of the company.

    Benefits are getting more and more expensive, compensation is stagnant with zero inflation adjustment.

    This year's most important stuff is "diversity and inclusion" and giving people lessons about the "unconscious bias", but this seems to be an attempt to tap into cheap labor even more. What about professional competency, which itself would include the above already?

    Look elsewhere and do not waste your time here.

    Advice to Management

    Stop looking for cheap labor, make people feel being appreciated, make them feel safe. Stop giving the top executives extreme raises and bonuses without at least inflation equivalent adjustment for the work force.
    Also think about the thousands of people who you let go. This is a small world, do you think they will hire IBM as their vendor, after you make them upset and disappointed?

    Strong history and brand recognition
    Freedom to run your business depending on management chain

    too much bureaucracy
    too much pressure
    micro management of forecast at all levels of management
    too big to get things done
    place no value on employees contributions, laying off many people who spent career at IBM for 30+ years and giving them 1 month severance.

    value your people who helped build the company
    focus not he clients, not t he spreadsheets and maybe revenue will grow again

    Pros

    Good variety of projects and locations. Personnel are friendly and professional. Excellent opportunity to work with technical experts. Flexible schedule and remote opportunities are a big plus.

    Cons

    For a supposed leader in tech, far too many inefficient processes. Receiving a badge and a login for key systems took way too long after completing a background check and coming on site. Processes for protocols were not transparent and required asking multiple people. The need to call tech support to change a password is incomprehensible and inexcusable.

    Advice to Management

    Streamline your processes, create business processes that are transparent and clearly communicated, and work with engineers to create non-painful system protocols that give your staff more autonomy. It shouldn't look to your team members like the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. Most employees want to follow rules; don't set them up with conflicting instructions that force them to decide which ones to break.

    Pros

    Years ago it was a great company. The last 10 to 15 years have been horrible. Senior management cares about no one but themselves. HR is incompetent and a puppet. They are pretty much worthless when it comes to being an employee advocate.

    Cons

    You are constantly looking over your shoulder to be permanently laid off. Pay for performance is a joke. It doesn't matter if you[re a top performer and have been for years, one day they will eventually get rid of you when they need to cut more cost. Everyone is just a number. There is no focus at all on what should be their most valued resource: their employees!

    Advice to Management

    Advice to the IBM Board of Directors - FIRE CEO GINNI ROMETTY! She has non-performed for almost 20 quarters now and she is still around? What is wrong with you? Is this a scratch my back I'll scratch yours deal? You look stupid and I can't imagine this continuing for much longer. Shame on you!.
