I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Opportunities for growth, work-life flexibility, benefits, great people

    Cons

Pay not competitive, Used to be loyal to employees...now just a number.

    Advice to Management

Get new management! The executive suite at IBM is out of touch. IBM still has top-notch technology and talent...but the executive leadership doesn't lead. Bad decisions are destroying this once great company.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Flexible work hours, ability to work from home, supportive, caring, 1st and 2nd line management that provide great guidance and regular feedback and constructive criticism, amazing teamwork among peers. Clearly defined goals and objectives and a willingness as a team to go above and beyond to achieve them. Good benefits.

    Cons

Senior executives don't care about employees or understand the value of institutional memory. Rampant age discrimination and a policy of secrecy, deflection, resistance to confronting the business and personnel issues in the company

    Advice to Management

Get more advice from employees and line management on the direction the company should take and engage in an honest appraisal of the realities of the product portfolio and market response to it. Stop setting unrealistic goals for the company.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Working here for more than 5 years and think there are some great people delivering IT and Consulting engagements to our clients. A+ for promoting an innovative framework. Recently established some solid offerings

    Cons

Spend too much time with internal processes, risk mitigation and management reviews. Not enough focus or time for our client objectives and needs. IBM senior management with little impact and limited access to client executives. No practical innovation for our clients.

    Advice to Management

Build client relationships at the top with trust and sincere focus with valued outcomes. Eliminate the internal nightmare of developing proposals, pricing, reviews, etc.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Intellectual demanding workplace; very innovative- technology wise leading edge Company; very trustworthy colleagues; never met a person at IBM who is not really smart.

    Cons

IBM seemed to have lost its way in terms of leadership. Constant reorganization and hiring and firing of people has a very negative impact on business development activities especially on new logos.

    Advice to Management

Transformation starts from the Top down - instead of playing musical chairs I would advise to change out the complete Tier 1 client facing leadership.

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are many experts in the company, who clearly are thought leaders in the industry.

    Cons

IBM reduced my salary 18% after I joined the company. This appears to be a common IBM practice.

    Advice to Management

GBS is using unethical business practices to GBS employees, specifically reducing salaries 18% after joining the company.

    Cons

Can't think of many other than the company is always trying to do more than less. That's not a good thing... Lay-offs are a reality of your division isn't producing...

    Advice to Management

Idiot purchase of a former dig five consulting company almost killed consulting revenue. There wasn't any effort made to understand the differences in organizational cultures...
