    Pros

    salary, remote work at home

    Cons

Need to work more than 60 hours a week. Have to work on vacations, evenings and weekends due to the demands of the sales organization. No respect for the employee. Staff is refreshed constantly regardless of the performance of the individual. Seasoned employees are encouraged to leave the business so young and less talent can be brought in. Support roles are sent offshore where there is no understanding of the business.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

With IBM for 25 years..... I've seen IBM's leadership transform to understand and advocate for LGBT rights in all countries. There are countries and states, which do not have laws about rights for our community, and IBM has negotiated and educated some to understand the value our GLBT diversity brings to the market and spending power. Last time I checked we had 42 Out Executives in IBM world wide, imagine that!

    Cons

No matter where you are there are still people afraid and confused about our journey in life.

    Advice to Management

Stay/Get educated on diversity groups and if you are unfamiliar/uncomfortable with LGBT, find a LGBT mentor to help you understand the life style and the challenges our community runs up against. We have families, friends, advocates and misunderstood individuals in our life's. Don't treat us any differently than you would your own wife, husband or child, sister, brother or cousin, and respect the fact that this is not a choice, we are who we are and god loves all.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There's plenty to do, and plenty of growth when you're innovative.

    Cons

    Budget cuts come to often.

    Advice to Management

Help to grow skills and encourage it, don't just dump it on a website and expect all to follow. The amount of content can be overwhelming for someone new.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

For someone like me - extremely dedicated to my job, hard-working, always going the extra mile - IBM has been a great place to work. IBM is a high performing company and expects its employees to be high-performing as well. I have had very little issues acclimating myself into the IBM culture. The salary is competitive and the benefits are excellent. And with such a large and diverse company, the opportunities for growth and for branching out into different technologies/markets are great.

    Cons

If you are someone who wants to do the minimum... who watches the clock for that eight-hour mark so you can sprint out the door... who does not want to be in a competitive and high performing environment... IBM is probably not the place for you.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, which you may expect from a large company. Flexible schedule

    Cons

In my last 2 years as a manager, I released 30 people. If that isn't bad enough, I hired 15 people over the same period.

    Advice to Management

Move good people to the open positions, don't let the talent walk out the door. The company is going downhill, because all the good people are being shown the door.

I worked at IBM full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The IBM legacy which is in serious danger of becoming only a distant memory. This company has done great things in the past but has not learned to adapt to the market they seek to penetrate.

    Cons

Dinosaur! IBM will continue to lose market and relevance in all things they do until they get competent leadership and that flows down to competent middle management. Process seems to be more important than results. As a salesperson with a quota a was measured more on my ability to produce reports than on my sales numbers

    Advice to Management

15+ quarters missed revenue and senior management is getting bonus payouts? Need to drain the swamp

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of work, lots of interesting work.

    Cons

Landing a job after your contract ends is a tough process.

    Advice to Management

There are soft skills and hard skills in management, hard skills are easy to gauge and there is no measure for identifying those much needed and valued soft skills.
