I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great resume builder to work for a company as big and well known as IBM. Great healthcare benefits for full time employees. As an employee you get a lot of discounts from various companies.

    Cons

Because of the size of the company it's extremely hard to get recognized for good work. Pay raises ate based on a ranking system that is unfair. I say this because senior management tells your direct manager how many people they can select for each ranking. 1 is the best 4 is the worst, only 10% of staff can be a 1, 10% can be a 2, the 80% left need to be 2's and 3's. Only people with 1's get a raise.

    Advice to Management

Recognize people for there hard work. Get rid of this unfair ranking system or don't tell managers how many people in there staff can be each ranking. Increase pay to keep experienced employees.

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Opportunity to work in different projects and clients.

    Cons

Management has no loyalty for its employees. Employees are considered inventory rather than people. Change and growth enabled unqualified people to rise to executive positions. I was rated a 2+ and the following year my client had a large cut in their budget. Consequently, the client cut every contract in place and rescinded existing opportunities. Although my client directed as much work as possible to us, my sales were...

    Advice to Management

Complete review of executives to identify those employees that are open to constructive criticism and do not punish employees that offer constructive criticism and suggest alternatives. Promote executives based on talent and experience rather than personal appearance, willingness to party and golf, and personal relationships

I have been working at IBM

    Pros

I can work from home one day a week.

    Cons

They use an intense system to purchase equipment and everyday stuff called "Bond" and it sucks. Can not get what you want when you need it. I run A server Room and its near impossible to get freaking some simple network cables and tools to do my job. I have to sometimes buy my own stuff and bring it into work to use it. Also I have 6 Managers for the many projects I work on.

    Advice to Management

Take the middle man out of the projects and put trust into your employees and let us do our job.
