I have been working at IBM as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work From home %100 was one of the best innovations in the United States. Workers are more productive utilizing time saved on a daily commute to accomplish more. IBM has created an eccellent system of doing business in this manner.

    Cons

Industry changes in the Storage realm have left many skilled workers without a path to continue working for IBM. The model that was implemented somewhere after 2003 selling ping and power (Outsourcing) has now shifted.

    Advice to Management

Please figure out how to get back to employee/employer loyalty. Loyalty is a 2 way street, from all the workers I speak to today the loyalty of the employer to the employee has declined.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Many opportunities to grow a career. I changed careers 3 times during my tenor at IBM and did not lose my seniority or pay. Good benefits.

    Cons

Company getting out of services during this transition and do not seem to care about impact to our customers. Was sad to watch thousands of hard working dependable skilled people being slowly let go for shareholders. Replacements are clueless. If you are US based, you may need to be leery of working here.

    Advice to Management

Hope execs made a good decision for this century old company. If not they slowly destroyed it.
