I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Its a Job and it pays

    Cons

I worked for a company that outsourced its IT department to IBM a few years ago. The current IT staff was re-badged as IBM employees and told we had 3 months to find a permanent position at IBM or we would get our 10 weeks severance package. After a month they hired almost all the staff on full time so they could avoid paying the severance package. Then they started laying us off in groups until almost no one was left. They back fill some of the positions with staff from India and South America. The new staff is untrained and seems to have no experience. The reporting structure is a mystery even to the long time IBM staff.
I spend most of my time fielding request from users that are so frustrated they could scream. Helpdesk requests go unanswered for weeks for very basic requests. Everyone is very frustrated.
The IBM benefits, timesheet and vacation system is built in such a complicated way that is easy to get underpaid, lose vacation time, or get screwed on your severance package. There is no org chart very little communication between silos. I have friends that have quit without another position because they can't continue to work in this environment. those of us that say have had to put aside job satisfaction in favor of a paycheck. If you are the type of person that cares about the job you do or the people you support you will not be happy here.
If you are looking to outsource your IT department plan on losing our most qualified staff due to their frustration dealing with IBM. The only way i can see that IBM is getting 4 and 5 stars from these reviews is they are either faked to bring up their rating or all the review are all from other divisions or 3rd world countries

    2. Constant assault on benefits by finance
    3. Very low % raises if any, even for high performers
    4. Finance driven employee evaluation system forces low evaluations in an effort to justify layoffs.

    Advice to Management
