I have been working at IBM (More than 10 years)

    Pros

IBM recognized 1,000 employees as "Best of IBM" based on nomination from their executive management in May, 2017 at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island, Hawaii. This was a HUGE recognition for me as a 19 year employee based on my 2016 performance. Embracing the strategic imperatives, gaining the requisite skills, and driving measurable performance around them is key to success in IBM.

    Cons

Resistance to transform operational processes to embrace the Cloud and SaaS.

    Advice to Management

Continue to recognize the best in the company. The return on this recognition is immeasurable.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work from home - if your group still permits.

    Cons

As long as revenue continues to decline, the only person that will receive a (meaningful) bonus is Ginny and her exec team.

    Advice to Management

How do IBMERS get rewarded today? With electronic atta-boy emails, thank you emoticons and blue points to buy over priced stuff from a rewards catalogue (not kidding folks- each 100 pts worth about $17). Advice - be real!

    Pros

Benefits are the best of everything they say they offer

    Cons

Management likes to micro manage everything, there's no space for new ideas and the path for growing is almost non existing. Every time we ask for a raise we're reminded there are lots of people wanting to work for less than I make (H1B's)... It's ridiculous how a company of it's size survive retaining people by spreading terror and not by incentives
IBM likes to sell and idea that they've changed to adapt to the new times but the mentality to people on top haven't changed so I think it's a terrible place to work.

    Advice to Management

Be better at retaining and value what you have at home and not only those just hired from the market.

    Pros

    Smart people and great projects

    Cons

Growth slow down and corporate red tape

    Advice to Management

Ibm is ruled by HR and Finance. And they therefore have extremely stunted technology growth plans

    Pros

NONE !!! Me and my peers were outsourced to ibm in late 2005 and most of us are now gone from our account. Shame on you ibm.

    Cons

ibm is the worst company to work for ... no respect for the people that actually do the work ... obsessed by greed ... anyone, anywhere that considers taking a job with ibm should seriously reconsider.

    Advice to Management

Take a good long look in the mirror and realize there is no hope for you as a human being. EVERY IBM manager from the bottom to the top should make a list of all their current and former employees, find out where they live, pay each one an in-person visit and get down on their knees and be them for forgiveness. Only then will there be hope for you.
