I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

There still remains an element of social conscience and ethics that gives a few occasional moments of pride.

    Cons

I have been with IBM for 12+ years - started as a Band 7 and currently a Band D. Here are my challenges over the last few years: 1. Too much red tape - worse than some governments. I spend more time on internal issues (approx 60%) than client facing issues (40%). My measurement is 100% client facing. Anyone see the disconnect ? 2. Think of your men too - they do contribute to the business! Be fair across the board. Cut the red tape - and not by adding another process !

    Pros

Opportunities for growth, work-life flexibility, benefits, great people

    Cons

Pay not competitive, Used to be loyal to employees...now just a number.

    Advice to Management

Get new management! The executive suite at IBM is out of touch. IBM still has top-notch technology and talent...but the executive leadership doesn't lead. Bad decisions are destroying this once great company.

Good Products, good service, quality engineering.

        Cons

Salespeople are blamed excessively for lack of sales when a team effort is essential for success. Quotas are excessively high. Two quarters of missed quota results in probation. Too many layers of management involved in sales process.

Better understand the cause and effect association in generating sales and setting sales objectives.

IBM has lost some of its internal glue. They are not as loyal to their employees, which make the employees less loyal to IBM.
