I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Range of Opportunities
Chance to Work with Some Excellent Industry Leading People
Interesting Projects in the Public Domain

    Cons

    Extremely Aggressive Cost-Cutting
Greatly increased expectations on staff for work / activities beyond contracted hours, year on year
    Static Pay
Shift of all admin functions to "employee self-service" on ongoing basis
Buildings not cleaned properly to save money
Aggressive attritional approach to annual reviews to move staff on
Stingy with staff (packages) even after extended service
    Ungrateful to staff

    Advice to Management

The company has become very de-humanised over the last 7 / 8 years, and people, generally have been a bit trampled upon. If you don't change your ways, you will lose a lot of people when there is an economic upturn and people have more of a choice. If,... if, you want to retain experienced people, you need to change your ways and become more people friendly again, and look at more than the numbers on spreadsheets.
