    Pros

    Unbeatable technology breadth, great access to knowledge and trainings. Spectacular access to research centers and best-of-breed use cases

    Cons

    Very chaotic organization, massive bureaucratic processes, multiple service offering overlaps, negative internal competition (specially in sales, affecting partner bonus - non existing "one IBM")

    Extremely poor at clear goal setting

    IBM has healthy culture for maintaining work life balance. It also gives opportunities to grow on emerging technologies.

    Cons

    Compensation growth is not very impressive in IBM. Also the hierarchy in management is at times unnecessarily too much.

    Big Company where it should be easy to find the right job for each one.

    Cons

    Incentive plans not aligned with market reality, hence getting almost impossible to reach your objectives/revenue expectations

    Pros

    - Overseas assignment policies are unclear and changes on the fly - Employees career growth plan not remain consistent across assignments - No proper guidance or support provided while sent for overseas assignment - Assignment policy document changes without notification or broadcast - No escalation matrix defined

    Cons

    - Employees land with lot of confusions and ambiguity - Employees career growth gets disturbed and looses focus - Employee faces lot of troubles after landing in the new environment - Employees receives surprises on new policies - Employees concerns remains open and ignored

    Advice to Management

    - Assignment briefing need to be strengthened, earlier it used to be more professional which has degraded over time - Career growth plan should remain consistent - Proper and minimum support arrangement need to be introduced - Change control should be established on policy documents(e.g. HCCM/HCAM) and changes to be notified or broadcasted - Employee should have visibility of where their concerns can be addressed

    I worked at IBM full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Education is an amazing asset at IBM, be it leadership, technology, classroom or virtual learning. Teaming also was an asset of employees.

    Cons

    Cost competition in market drove to dramatic cost reductions and pressure on travel expenses, so business focus shifted to cost focus
