I have been working at IBM (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Coworkers are good to work with. docent medical insurances, 401k.

    Cons

Some up'er management depositions are bad. and a pay in-cress is needed for older employees to meet industry standers. some new befits would help also.

    Advice to Management

Need to move forward in time. start looking at the new composes out there and get away from old 1950's thanking. Move into the new cloud age. for up'er management.

I have been working at IBM full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - High, competitive salary. Could not believe I was making X amount out of college.
    - Access to the best training whether that be online on in person (free!)
    - Great health insurance
    - Good reputation . . . Everyone always looks very impressed when they find out that I work for IBM

    Cons

    - Ambiguity within the first year of job. Had no idea what I was doing for about 10 months
    - Front line manager isn't helpful or open for questions (please note, this was with MY manager. There are about 10 others that I hear are really helpful and great leaders... I just got unlucky)

    Advice to Management

I don't really have any problems with management as a whole. My project manager was great, but my Bluepages manager was not. I think I just got unlucky, considering most of my coworkers were very happy with their managers.

I worked at IBM (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very positive work environment - well organized teams with open communication across teams in multiple regions/countries. Organization objectives well communicated

    Cons

Recent changes made requiring employees to work in an office, if you were not in an area with an "approved" office, you were layed off (Resource Action) with no option provided to re-locate. There was no consideration of work contribution/value to the team.

    Advice to Management

Reconsider re-implementing a work from home strategy that allows valuable/contributing employees to continue to work

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work with a lot of really great people and have learned a lot of new things. This was a really great first job.

    Cons

Sometimes IBM's own policies and software gets in the way of productivity. The legal department is also frustrating to work with. The company is also not good at compensating for people working extra hours.

    Advice to Management

It would be best to think about what skills people have and what skills they desire to obtain when assigning them to projects. If you don't know who fits the position, see who is interested in it because people who are interested in something will produce more.
