    No opinion of CEO

I worked at IBM (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very positive work environment - well organized teams with open communication across teams in multiple regions/countries. Organization objectives well communicated

    Cons

Recent changes made requiring employees to work in an office, if you were not in an area with an "approved" office, you were layed off (Resource Action) with no option provided to re-locate. There was no consideration of work contribution/value to the team.

    Advice to Management

Reconsider re-implementing a work from home strategy that allows valuable/contributing employees to continue to work

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work with a lot of really great people and have learned a lot of new things. This was a really great first job.

    Cons

Sometimes IBM's own policies and software gets in the way of productivity. The legal department is also frustrating to work with. The company is also not good at compensating for people working extra hours.

    Advice to Management

It would be best to think about what skills people have and what skills they desire to obtain when assigning them to projects. If you don't know who fits the position, see who is interested in it because people who are interested in something will produce more.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work from home. Challenging environment and good technology. Good and very bright people work there and have made lasting friendships..

    Cons

This is a political machine. I always surpassed quota, and several times did 2-300% of quota only to have accounts and territory taken away with the explanation (5 times) "I was doing too well." They don't like initiative and punish excellent performance.

    Advice to Management

Reward over achievers. Quit raising quotas during the year when people are in accelerators. Management should focus and quit the ambiguity.

I have been working at IBM (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I can work autonomously. Processes are constantly changing with no regard to how it will affect other work streams.

    Cons

Way too much bureaucracy, executives who think they're god and don't understand what normal employees have to go through to get their jobs done, nor do they care.

    Advice to Management

Start valuing your employees instead of or in addition to your stockholders.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Medical & Dental Benefits are ok

    Cons

Not an innovative company... sales pure play. Sell something and then figure out if you can deliver it. Technologies are at least 5 years behind the leaders in the business.

    Advice to Management

Hire leaders from out side the company that are real Engineers, Entrepreneurs, and Innovators. And get rid of the Romety's, Palmasano's, etc. They have killed the company.
