I worked at IBM full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Great co-workers, professional environment, good career advancement potential.

    Cons

    No longer an "Employee-centric" organization.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on your employees and less on the stock price and you'll be a lot better off.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Flexible work options, good work/life balance Offer compressed work weeks At least in Watson Health, you can expect to be given plenty of time to find another job (while getting paid) if a 'resource action' occurs Pay seems fair, not necessarily on par with other tech giants.

    Cons

Poor leadership and direction in Watson Health People frequently leaving or getting laid off Hiring freeze prevents many of these positions from getting backfilled Meaningless bureaucracy People who spend most of their talking instead of working are the ones who get noticed. Hard-work goes largely unnoticed.

    Advice to Management

Old manager was great. Newly inherited manager is not so great. Frequently throws own team under the bus.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Very competitive and opportunities for "potential" growth. Very knowledgeable colleagues

    Cons

IBM processes for everything are by far the most stringent and horribly inconvenient for emplyees of IBM

    Advice to Management

We understand IBM is one of the most secure tech companies in the world. But lot of your processes are overkill and arent conducive to rapid problem solving

I have been working at IBM

    Pros

Benefits are fantastic. If things have to end due to outsourcing or cut backs they still offer a decent package including money for education. They also have great tools in place to help you do your job.

    Cons

requests to "do more" are all too often met with a pat on the back and word of how well you are doing in your current role. Requests for training are generally denied (this is Global Services specific) unless the training will help in your current role not your aspired career goal.

    Advice to Management

Let your often referred as "greatest resource" grow especially when they show the desire to do so.
