I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job Security. Health Insurance. Learning Resources.

    Cons

Salary too low. Remote work is not allowed. Too many work items to complete on the side of project work that overflows into personal time. Dark and grey office space.

    Advice to Management

Attend to cons or turnover will be high.

I have been working at IBM as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

I honestly cannot think of one off the top of my head. Maybe the view dog walking to your car after you've resigned?

    Cons

If you try to do things by the book, you get pulled aside and "talked to" by management. They say they like to promote from within but when it comes to technical roles, you have to pay for your certification and they don't reimburse you. If you're looking for experience then IBM is ok, but I would not recommend staying with them as a career unless you're a masochist.

    Advice to Management

Dissolve the company. You're a bunch of evil stooges.

"Rocket Center WV, a wrinkle in IBM"

    Pros

You get to work for one of the greatest companies in the US.

    Cons

Mostly based on the location I worked at. Rocket Center, WV. Very low salaries. Don't really consider what you are looking for, career goals, interests (though they claim they do) and stick you on any old project assignment.
Project assignment staff are not technical, and really don't understand what they're doing. How can you work at a technology company and have absolutely no technical knowledge or background, especially in a role where you are assigning resources to contracts?
Tend to place people in training just for the sake of keeping people busy. If your available you're put in it, no matter if its related to your job or has anything to do with the area of work your in.
Overall culture is nothing like a typical IBM location, in that people here don't collaborate, socialize, and overall are miserable. High turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

You NEED to have people with at least some technical background in higher management or project assignment roles. Bad decision making is hurting your employees careers and creating a poor work culture at Rocket Center.

I have been working at IBM as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great environment, Good leaders, Great Knowledge Diversity, Good Opportunities And Support from upper managment.

    Cons

Getting lost in the shuffle, not being payed what were worth, becoming stagnant if not in the click, feeling very stretched thin. Multiple projects without increase of pay.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Money. If you are out to do nothing but make money this is the job for you, otherwise go somewhere else. If you are looking to make a difference or do something epic, this is not for you.

    Cons

Long Hours. Unfair review process. Poor career growth. Short on staff. Horrible business practice. Employees are required to work a 44 hour work week, coincidentally works out so that you only wind up with 1 day off a year IF you are able to take vacation.

    Advice to Management

Give a little, gain alot... There are no incentives to be a good employee. Practice what you preach - everything I heard was fluff from management, nothing ever comes to fruition when it comes to taking care of employees.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Work from home potential
-Network of people across the globe.
-Open door to new opportunities within IBM around the globe.
    -Job security
    -Awesome 401k

    Cons

-Vast workforce makes you feel small and insubstantial
-Pay is modest at best. IBM feels benefits make up for low salary

    Advice to Management

Help your employees feel like they have a career path within IBM. Not just another employee.
