I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You could be very free during the good times.

    Cons

The company is getting more political.
The company has unrealistic goal of change/agile; too many changes in short period of time.
Promotion is not base on tenure; half of it is base on luck, the other half is base on hard work / long hours of works; politic comes into play
Flexibility of working from home come with the expense of working at night/public holiday.
The company is downsizing and is squeezing the essence out of the existing employees.

    Advice to Management

Have realistic goal and scrap the politic

    Advice to Management

People are your biggest assets. Take good care of them. Chasing quarterly / annual targets without consideration of your people is not good.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

strongly depends on how proactive you are and forward moving, with a little bit of luck as the company is huge with lots of opportunity. the culture is friendly and helpful too and there are many sources of information at which you can approach.

    Cons

Easily lost in the world of IBM, not knowing what you can do and what you cannot do. If you do not have a good manager, you'd easily get sucked up by IBM and have to fend for yourself.

    Advice to Management

HR should play some part in managing people, IBM follows the system where people strongly revolve around employee-manager interaction only, making a lot of things limited if your manager is not very good at managing people.
