I worked at IBM full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

In this position there is an opportunity to work with a cross section of dynamic technical, management and executive resources. The ability to work remotely is a benefit and most effectively when permitted, especially since most managed resources are also remote.

    Cons

The constant 24x7 on-call matrix is often draining with little to no regard to salaried personnel work hours, work/life balance or well-being. Poorly assessed business continuity requirements, transition analysis and contract over commitment on out-sourced contracts result in crit sit accounts, dissatisfied customers, over extended budgets, eventual reduction of needed resources and personnel burn out.

    Advice to Management

Perform better business continuity analysis to better define customer needs, get feedback from existing SME before making management decisions and contract commitments.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I love the ability to fit the customer needs to many solutions.

    Cons

Large. Cumbersome to get what you need for customers. Takes about a year to really fit in.

    Advice to Management

streamline and buy more than customer bases.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great benefits
    - Good pay
    - Great training
    - Well known brand

    Cons

    - This company is OLD. It's over 100 years old, so they don't mess around with their bottom line. They make you pay for coffee for example.
    - They are trying fast to stay relevant, but it is tough in a landscape that is changing so fast
    - They have created a lot of partnerships with younger companies, but a lot of the sexy new tech requires a lot of foundational work that most companies don't have
    - It's hard to actually get anything done since many employees are disillusioned
    - They are like the grandparents in tech, which means they might die soon

    Advice to Management

Keep your young talent. Don't spend thousands in training them and then let them go.
