    Pros

Benefits Coworkers Access to technology Location Diversity This is at least 5 words.

    Cons

Hostile work environment. Micromanagement. Inability to manage in your own style. Lack of time permitted for training or career advancement. Very low to zero budget for employee engagement, team building, etc. Little to zero work life balance due to management who do not understand family life.

    Advice to Management

Find managers who care about people and not just a body.

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Legacy Brand Name that still has impact on Resumes, The closest leadership has the most impact and thus if they're amazing your career will be as well. After 100 years the policies have panned out to be stabilized and easily understood.

    Cons

A cog in a 300,000 part machine can feel like an unimportant piece in a really big puzzle. Although I listed it as a pro a con is that the policies are also in some parts outdated. Utilization target for GBS Federal was higher than compensation although this might differ annually.

    Advice to Management

If IBM hopes to survive and be competitive against the Google/Facebooks of the world, you'll need to equate the benefits (Full Coverage of Health Care Plan, 16 weeks of Maternity/Paternity leave, RSUs, etc.) or else the talent will wane in the coming generation and jeopardize the company as a result.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    - Established, American company with serious market share - Very large, global company so you can get involved in many different projects - Deep pride among IBMers

    Cons

    - Lots of processes - The size of the company can be overwhelming

    Advice to Management

Orientation is VERY important. Considering how big the company is, we need to make sure that proper orientation is given to everyone.

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

    Very few good reasons anymore

    Cons

    Execs don’t care about employees

    Advice to Management

It is time Ginny and her merry band of executive sycophants realize that the reason they are wealthy is due to the hard work performed by employees in salary bands 9 and below. It is not because anyone in the senior ranks are visionaries or even exceptional business persons. They are only good at establishing unobtainable revenue goals for products (“vaporware” really) that, except for changing the names to align with...

      Pros

Lots of variety and opportunities to grow. Good benefits package.

      Cons

Such a big company, it is hard to get to the new opportunities, and it is a slow process. 401k matching is only at year end, downfall if you exit before December.

      Advice to Management

Actually treat your employees as you boast that you do.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Good salary. Very talented people in the trenches. Lots of skills development opportunities . Good work/life balance. Extremely ethical company.

      Cons

The highest executive leadership doesn't know where this company is going. They seem to grab onto the latest hot technology, but then fail to execute as well as Microsoft, AWS or Google. Mid-level management just adds bureaucracy not value, and doesn't build great products. Company keeps re-organizing on a yearly basis wasting resources and stressing out the workforce. Benefits are sub-par.

      Advice to Management

Get rid of some levels of bureaucracy. Do a better job of identifying internal talent and give them more authority.
