I have been working at IBM full-time

    Pros

People all around the world are willing to help your career anytime you reach out to them. IBM has so many ways for you to further your growth within the company and most importantly your own professional brand. Professional growth can be fast and easy. It is up to you. I've been with IBM for 6 months and received 3 certifications and have opportunities to move around within the company.

    Cons

Things can get really slow. Communication can be slow, getting assigned to a project can be slow. But those are times you can take out to learn more.

I have been working at IBM for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent people with a large amount of training resources. The main location in Monroe is a newly built building right across the street from the anchor client in Monroe.

    Cons

The new building is essentially a call center with no privacy. To make things worse the ability to grow is stifled by the constant disorganization and constantly changing requirements to get promoted. The push for training is constant but the ability to apply any of the skills are nearly nonexistent. Recruiters will lie vigorously and substantially to get you here and then your stuck. If you are interested in... IBM avoid anything labeled GBS like the plague. Its a dead end job maintaining outdated code and dying systems for other companies.

    Advice to Management

Communicate what this place is during recruiting and quite lying to people and having them move to a town that has nothing for them. Beyond that your management is incompetent and incapable of performing their basic jobs let alone the other roles you stack on top of them that lead to people and opportunities falling through the cracks. Also pay people what they are worth its beyond disparaging to know what the... company is paying for you hourly and then know you get paid less than half of that but forced to work 50 -60 hours a week to include nights and weekends with no overtime or compensation. Finally give your employees back PTO instead of making them work extra hours because they didn't forecast it 4 to 5 months in advance.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Hands on learning experience. Well established materials plenty of resources to ask for help.

    Cons

GBS division is the consulting division of IBM and thus salaries are non competitive even for non-entry level work. Work life balance is strongly skewed towards work. Frequently on calls on weekends.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Advice to Management

    Get some work, seriously

I have been working at IBM for more than a year

    Pros

IBM offers a lot of training to help you ready for your position. If you are having a hard time, there is always someone that you can reach out to for help.

    Cons

The progression process is only available once a year, and the base salaries are low which makes it frustrating to gain a better salary.

I have been working at IBM full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Interesting job assignments with challenging tasks. The fellow employee are also super friendly and helpful.

    Cons

Being so new in this area there is lack in the access to equipment and personnel resource that you expect to find at a company of this size. There is no one to talk to about health and benefits locally and they lack a IT department to handle Ofiice materials. You have to provide your own equipment beyond the provided think pad laptop.

    Advice to Management

Build out the infrastructure for you employees before you grow. Its important that people are not left scratching their heads or being force to a vague website when they have questions about business and HR concerns. The facility manager should not be the only one with all the answers.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great opportunities to travel while on projects. Meeting awesome co-workers. Able to get vacation time even if you started with the company in the middle of the year

    Cons

They are not completely honest about the job description while in the interview or with the posting online. You have to be on a project. If not you are at risk of being fired within a few months. Even if there are no project in your service line.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with the job description and maybe the turn over rate wouldn't be as high as it is now. Be able to work with your team and help them find projects.
