doing a lot of fun projects and love that they are in redwood city area and woodside area

    Cons

there are really no negatives other than the lack of health care benefits. but then again a lot of the employees have their own coverage because they really are independent contractors. they just like staying on spectrum projects.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Hardest problems to solve, you learn tons!; World class customers and the smartest people on the planet to work with. Ability to move around to many new careers every 2 years.

    Cons

NO LIFE, NO PAY, NO SENSE OF COMMUNITY, THREAT OF BEING FIRED EVERY DAY. Constantly changing the compensation rules so they take away from you any profit and bonuses your hard work generated. Most of it is simply unethical!! It has become a mean and selfish culture which uses it "VALUES" only as a way to beat the employees while management does not live by any of them. Travel rules have become so over burdensome and complex and just seem to be a way of making the employee pay for as much of the cost of doing IBM business as is legally possible. NO ONE wants to travel for IBM unless you are a manager and are exempt from all this nonsense.

    Advice to Management

Start treating the employees like people who you value. We are leaving in droves. 20 percent of us do 80 percent of the work and in the past you did not care because you are so large it did not matter who left. The 20 percent is down to about 10 percent and reducing fast, better wake up!!!
