I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great Benefits which includes, PTO, PCH, Sick Time Off, medical benefits, Matching 401K, Stock Options.
    - learning Resources are so many and free that you can pretty much utilize and learn anything that relates to your career and grow with them.
    - Tools that IBM uses are very intuitive and technologically advanced in the IT market which makes job simple to understand and use.

    Cons

    - In the area where I am working is very competitive and data centers getting build consistently which creates lots Job opportunities with higher pay and Management is not able to match that which causes high turnover and losses of great talent and dissatisfied employees

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible on job location (i.e. remote work), and setting your own hours. Plenty of opportunities to work abroad. There are training/education/certification opportunities, but all are virtual and self study. The company is large enough where lateral moves can be easy to find, and offer new career challenges.

    Cons

Finance runs the company, and they will frequently (and suddenly) put in place strict spending cuts. To the point where it is nearly impossible to do any non-customer travel. For group training, conferences, team meetings, etc. There are people with whom I have worked for 10+ years, and have never met face to face. Management puts little effort into career guidance. There are some exceptions to that rule, but not many.

    Advice to Management

Take a longer-term view of the business, and of your employees. IBM has operated in a short-term mode for the better part of a decade, with mixed results.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and lots of opportunities to grow with internal training systems as a company priority on training current employees to be top talent in their field.

    Cons

There is so much process and paperwork you can waste days on end on help desks and getting different answers when trying to resolve an issue.
Getting issues escalated and resolved slows down overall progress and tires out employees.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It took awhile, but have received multiple promotions and expect to be promoted to Band 10 within the year.

    Cons

Marketing was co-located. My job was sent to another part of the country, far from where I live. I accepted and planned to move, but found a better job before the move took place. Since so many left, opportunities abounded.

    Advice to Management

I have been very lucky to have some very good managers in the past few years.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked remotely from home for 5 years(worked on site for first 6 years), awesome colleagues, great team collaboration, some opportunities for growth.

    Cons

There is no pleasing SOME higher-ups, unfair pay structure meaning....colleagues in same department with same exact responsibilities making 25-30k more, yes they had been there longer, but as I was there over time I expected to EARN my way up the pay structure and that did not happen....NOT EVEN CLOSE!! And YES I was a team contributor, team collaborator, going above and beyond, a subject matter expert for multiple systems and tools, and an education facilitator.

I would love to say more but I believe in karma!

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is huge and so may offer diverse career opportunities

    Cons

The company is too bureaucratic. Time is mostly wasted on internal manual reporting rather than real work and adding value. Too complex company structure may be a hindrance of career manoeuvre.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The people were great! I loved working with the those around me and meeting new customers! I was happy with the benefits but they were very pricey! I also had a great manager and I could work from home.

    Cons

So many people worked from home it was harder and harder to meet up with co-workers face to face.

    Advice to Management

Have more team meetings so employees can get to know new ones a little better!
