I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, Quality Colleagues, earning potential, resources

    Cons

As a sales exec, territories were constantly changing due to management's inability to make the correct long term investments to grow revenue. Pressure constantly put on legacy business units and never ending re-organizations from industry to geographic. Definite process to force out older IBM'ers which was unfortunate as they held the long term client relationships and experience. No transition plan in account coverage, Little career development opportunity.

    Advice to Management

Stop managing hour to hour and focus on long term growth, treat employees with respect as they become future customers. Good luck with the Red Hat acquisition.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

IBM is dedicated to your growth as a professional and invests HEAVILY in your development. Most of my colleagues also have the ability to work remotely and the pay is good. Opportunities for growth abound. The company has a bright future and a bright past full of innovative tech that revolutionized many industries. Proud to be an IBMer!

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The products and services are superb. The co-workers are all wonderful, smart people. The benefits are quite good too.

    Cons

If you're over 40, your days are numbered. Mass layoffs every 90 days, mostly targeting anyone over 40 who they will throw out the door with only one month of severance pay regardless of tenure. You have to be employed on December 15th in order to get your 401k company match. This is a toxic environment. Upper management is only focused on feathering their own nest. You've been warned about IBM. If you get whacked its your own fault.

    Advice to Management

Fire Ginni. The stock is at a 5 year low.
