I worked at IBM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work is research oriented, there are chances of getting a paper and a patent within 12 weeks.
Good accomodation - Mariott, where all the other interns live together.

    Cons

Low Pay compared to other tech giants like Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Amazon.
Not much interaction within the team, I couldn't learn much about what others in my team are working on

I worked at IBM as an intern

    Pros

Incredibly nice people, tennis, basketball, and ping-pong courts, gym in the back, lovely view of lawns and wetlands, huge parking lot, transportation services, great food, and free coffee!

    Cons

The one downside is the long walk to the other side of the research center.

I worked at IBM as an intern

    Pros

Flexible hours, interesting projects, brilliant people

    Cons

There are fabulous people working there who are intelligent and expert in their work. Having said that, it happens that you have to work in a team that your coworkers are not flexible and even not up-to-date with the last technologies and the methods in the field. Persuading those people to use the new technology is very hard and even impossible if it comes from an intern!
If you wanna join to any team as a full time researcher, make sure that your coworkers are willing to COLLABORATE on the project and not pushing you to use older methods and tools just because they are more comfortable with it!

    Advice to Management

Make sure that your employees and your managers have the latest knowledge of their fields and encourage them to attend more conferences, workshops, lectures, etc.

I worked at IBM as an intern

    Pros

Work with global teams, highly experienced coworkers

    Cons

Low compensation, transportation, fewer events, location

    Advice to Management

Don't send interns to the Southbury location. It's extremely inconvenient.

    Pros

You're exposed to a lot of other IBMers who do different things, so you're constantly learning and evolving and discovering more and more about yourself and your interests. You get a lot of support; everyone here are 110% down to talk to you if you need help or if you just want to learn more about what they do.

    Cons

Sometimes the people you work with don't get back to you as quick as you'd like them to.

I have been working at IBM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Had an awesome manager who was really helpful.
    - So many resources to learn from. Try and get the Agile and Design Thinking badges while you are there.
    - Work from home Friday's at least for my team.

    Cons

    - Poor intro to Agile.

    Advice to Management

The Sou Chef video series is a great resource to help new hires understand Agile methodologies quicker. Having it as a recommended resource for when the interns / new hires begin.

I worked at IBM as an intern

    Pros

-interacted with amazing IBMers every day who were genuinely interested in my future career and networking
-managers were really great, very passionate and supportive
-IBM Watson West office in SF is great- wonderful people and environment
-overall environment at IBM is very warm and welcoming, people always want to help

    Cons

-sometimes there was confusion over our assigned projects because our project managers seemed to be on different pages (this was resolved)
-wish we had more regular times to meet with our managers, our managers were always willing to talk with us, but it was difficult not having a weekly meeting period for us to check in

    Advice to Management

-keep on letting the interns have free-rein of the office!
-clarify what projects the interns are supposed to be doing beforehand
    -keep on being amazing!
