I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great colleagues. People with a lot of expertise. Great place to learn.

    Cons

Company has a lot of products and a lot of process. Can be hard to determine who to talk to. Can take a long time to get an answer. Company has not been growing (overall). Divestitures and layoffs can be demoralizing even if you're not affected.

    I worked at IBM full-time

    Pros

Over the many years I worked for IBM, no matter what the job, my colleagues were always top-notch. Great people to work alongside, dedicated, innovative, highly-skilled and resilient. The opportunities I had the pleasure of working on were tremendous, and while challenging the work was typically interesting. If you had a management chain with the ear of their executive, a lot of good could happen.

    Cons

In recent years, there was an unfortunate constant drumbeat of resource actions and mixed priorities which continued to pile work on those that remained, and without a laser focus and necessary support needed for success. Work was typically reactionary, and overtime was significant.

    Advice to Management

Better align priorities and expectations across business units to establish focus and remain consistent... this should help increase productivity, and improve quality as well as employee morale.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Flexibility of work life balance and work from home options
    - Great sources of resources, connections to help build career
    - Surrounded by very intellectual people that can help you grow your skills and learn new ones

    Cons

    - Constant Travel
    - In the beginning, project staffing is luck of the draw
    - dog eat dog mentality as no one is going to hold your hand to learn, must put yourself out there to be noticed
    - Training is a bit weak

    Advice to Management

Focus on new hires getting placed on important foundational projects. Build better training for CbD to prepare early consultants for future projects.
