    Pros

Great people. Interesting work. My team was very close knit and every project had its own unique challenges and opportunities to learn.

    Cons

Unstable. Constant re-org. Always looking for a cheaper pool of candidates.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Outstanding talent (though getting thinned out), working at the leading edge, deep resources to execute (depending upon which unit you’re in), great benefits

    Cons

Let’s great talent leave, agile overkill in marketing, too much influx of talent with limited experience and lack of judgement put in leadership positions, mid-level execs (VP and Dir) is getting weak, over rotation on digital (buzzword and concept bingo) where marketing execs don’t understand the concept and forget the basics. Collocation do the sake of collocation.

    Advice to Management

Focus. Understand where you’re best talent exists. Stop trying to be a 100 person start up.

    I worked at IBM full-time

    Pros

Good salary, benefits, work-life balance. Overall, great people to work with: professional, very technical, and intelligent. People are mostly open to helping one another to get things done. IBM has been around for 100 years, so it is stable.

    Cons

Although the company is stable, the workforce is not. IBM goes through frequent purges in which experienced employees are laid off. This churn means gaps and holes start showing in knowledge and procedures.

    Advice to Management

When employees see great contributors being let go because of their age, it is demotivating. Legal definitions aside, people know what is going on.
