I worked at IBM as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed work environment, competitive pay, great environment, no overbearing management, flexible hours, willing to invest in their employees, all around great place to work

    Cons

Can be slow at times. Some positions are not high paced at all. Things take a while to happen as it is a very large company thus projects must go through alot of people.

I worked at IBM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

There was a great amount of flexibility in project direction, and all of the managers and executives were very approachable. Great experience overall.

    Cons

As expected with a large company, it was hard to understand what work was already going on in similar areas to my project. This made it difficult to know what new additions my work was making.

    Advice to Management

Management was pretty great overall. Not much advice to share, besides what was mentioned above in the Cons. Not sure how to specifically address that concern.

    Pros

Great company to work for. Great people and work-life balance. It seemed like everyone was very friendly with each other and very friendly to me.

    Cons

IBM seems to experience a lot of issues involving layoffs. So job security may be a little less than ideal.

I worked at IBM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment. Innovative work being done by interns. Newest technology available at your finger tips.

    Cons

Very tight deadlines, must do new work without guidance. Lots of self learning. Too much micro management.

    Advice to Management

Try teaching the interns about the basics of the work to be done, and try a bit less management and more creativity to flow.

I worked at IBM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Learned more in this internship program in 3 months than I did during most of my schooling. Not only did I learn hard skills about being a UX designer, but I also learned many soft skills that have shaped who I am as a professional designer.

    Cons

The challenges that arose in my internship were up to par with what you would experience in the real industry. I would consider these pros, not cons.

I have been working at IBM as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Smart people, very diverse company, good team environment. Competitive pay and benefits. Was able to work on a real product and help out.

    Cons

Some people can be a bit snobbish, mostly this is young people who think they are in a better department than you, but this is very limited.

    Advice to Management

In regards to the Agile movement: The work environment here is pretty great right now, but I've heard it was better before. The direction it's headed is certainly not being welcomed from what I've heard.
