    Advice to Management

Stop laying of U.S. workforce and sending American jobs overseas.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Ethical dealings with clients. They really put the customer first. Excellent opportunities to switch around in jobs and careers as well as geographies.

    Cons

These days it is all about the numbers. What have you done for me lately. I've seen some great people ushered out because of a bad client spending year. Or a year after exceptional client spending that cannot be matched the following year. Loyalty to the employee is much more limited than it used to be.

    Advice to Management

Stop shuffling territories around for the Software coverage Reps. Value the employees who clients like, even when there is an off year.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at IBM (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, 40-Hour Work Week, and the ability to work 10-hour days for four days a week and take the fifth day off. They have a mature Human Resources and Management Structure.

    Cons

Salary increases were small and only about every 24 months, the increase barely covered the cost of living increase. A significant amount of travel is required for some positions.

    Advice to Management

The current management structure makes it difficult to recognize exceptional employees via salary increases or bonuses.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at IBM (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good opportunity if you're young and talented and keep up with technology

    Cons

Business operations people last the longest. Technically strong employees cost too much so there is a wall we all hit just a bit too early.

    Advice to Management

    Sell

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I honestly have no good things to report about working for IBM. I do not recommend working for this company.

    Cons

Disorganized place that disrespects it's employees.

Too large to give employees individual attention.

Even though this is a high tech company they still give their employees very outdated, failing computers.

    Pros

Huge, financially sound company, run with ruthless efficiency, that will win the IT war in the end through acquisition and brute force rather than product leadership.

    Cons

For the most part IBM is comprised of very average people. People can hide out for years in a company this size without ever really being noticed.

    Advice to Management

Keep acquiring, it will be you and oracle in the end.
