I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

IBM is a huge company, has a lot of different areas where employee is able to learn and develop new skills. There is an structured career plan and also assessment and learning programs.

    Cons

Has a lot of bureaucracy, therefore changes can be very slow, as well as decisions, approvals etc. The global matrix (all countries report to a global leader) sometimes impacts processes.

    Advice to Management

More autonomy to the local leaders would be nice. IBM has changed a lot, but we know there is a long way to go, yet.

    Pros

If you are driven by results, is not afraid to change, pursue career growth and improves your skills in a systematically manner, this is the company for you. If you want a good salary in a comfortable position, and does not like a ever changing environment, to feel challenged and insecure, this is not the company for you.

    Cons

The Globalization strategy impacts the employee growth on careers that are not related to the core business. These Global pools of Employees (aka CIC, COE, COC) does not have employees with the same pace, sense o urgency, skills and commitment to the business and customers.

    Advice to Management

Review the Globalization strategy. Give more delegation to local leadership to recognise, reward and develop employees.
