I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Good position for early career opportunities.

    Cons

Not very well structured. Pay is low. Travel 100% even though it says 50%. Different mentality between CIC centers and regular IBM. IBM treats the CIC as "Near Shore" workers with the concept of bringing offshore work to the US. No defined career path for early professionals after a certain point. Managers make it hard to promote to band 7 while CBDers in the company automatically get promoted between the 1.5-2 year...

    Advice to Management

pay your employees what the market suggests... Provide same career path structure that you provide CBDers. Make relocation available after a certain time with the company.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Easy interview process for those straight from college...salary is decent for a entry level position

    Cons

Raises are miniscule and bonuses are almost non existent. Travel is said to be 50% but is really 100% or whatever the client prefers. If you cannot learn on the job, it will be rough because the training provided does not help you once on client site.

    Advice to Management

Up salaries to compete with other SAP consulting companies

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Great focus on development of employees, good benefits, good work-life balance. Great network of resources from past and present projects.

    Cons

As a traveling consultant, I never met my manager in person. It can be easy to get lost in the mix.

    Advice to Management

Keep up with keeping employees informed. In an organization this large, continued transparency is appreciated. Insight into review process was critical for lower level employees.
