I worked at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a huge company with a few smart people doing interesting things. They pay average for the industry, but there are lots of opportunities to learn.

    Cons

They too focused on pilling on additional sales, services and financing. Each group in the firm has a quote and the client's real needs tends to 3rd or 4th in the priority list.

    Advice to Management

Simplify the process. Encourage team members to think about the client first.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

IBM Technology and resources are some of the best in the marketplace. IBM's biggest and greatest assets are its people.

    Cons

Timely delivery of innovation. Transformation for the business doesn't always match the innovation available for clients to benefit.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate strategies on workforce management. Remember the past and why IBM has been so successful, but learn from the past as well.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generally, good people and some very smart ones. Interesting direction with Watson and other solutions.

    Cons

The internal process speaks volumes to the age of the company. People who haven't worked anywhere else in their career can't see the bigger issues. Most of these people are in Management positions.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's nice to have autonomy over my schedule to a certain extent, but overall it's an amazing work-life balance.

    Cons

It's the big corporate feel, and anything in your contract can be changed at any time, even after you've come through with a sale (affecting your commission)

    Pros

The CAMSS objective and strong technical expertise is what customers need and are looking for.

    Cons

60% of the managers are incompetant. I had 7 managers in two years and many lied about forecasting numbers to exec management. Most just figured out how to go from job to job year over year so they don't get fired or laid off.

    Advice to Management

Bring in strong outside leaders that Exec management respects and change the culture and business model.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Salaries are in line with industry norms

    Cons

A really awful sales culture. The sales force is beaten up and demoralized. I have never seen so many competent and qualified sales people leaving an organization. I would stay away unless you enjoy the status of working for IBM. Not worth the pain.

Great company to work for. Opportunities.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Allow people to find there own way. Don't micro manage.
