I have been working at IBM

    Pros

Pay is very competitive. Benefits are Competitive. Opportunity for advancement. Opportunity to move within IBM if your current project or contract ends.

    Cons

Very large company of over 400,000 people. Can be very impersonal. The company has significant demands for employees. 44 hour work week, minimum.

    Advice to Management

Only advice I would have is to try to get to know employees you directly manage. Make the system for semi annual reviews more user friendly.

I have been working at IBM

    Pros

Decent benefits and pay. Many opportunities to work from home if you prefer that situation. Good training available to all employees.

    Cons

IBM is going through a difficult transition in the IT industry. Parts of IBM are growing revenue and parts of IBM are losing revenue. In recent years, this has led to yearly 'resource actions' where large numbers of employees are laid off in the parts of IBM that are losing revenue. My experience is that IBMers struggle with work-life balance. If you are in the part of IBM that is growing the team is always understaffed...

    Advice to Management

Figure out a way to effectively move people from parts of the business that losing revenue to parts of business that are growing revenue.
