I worked at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work-life balance, by 4pm people start leaving and at 5pm the office is almost empty. You can see managers spending most of the time shopping online.
    Great continuous learning resources

    Cons

Old fashion mindset, ageist culture. Slow pace. Bureaucratic environment. No career evolution. Everything is getting moved to cheaper countries to reduce costs, without caring about quality.

    Advice to Management

The solution to survive is not only buying companies that do better than yours, but change the culture of your company. It is no longer 1980!

I have been working at IBM full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere, great team, informal workplace.
    Challenging work
    Working hours are very flexible.
Possibilities of education and following promotion in any business you choose.

    Cons

The process of adaptation takes a while before you get access to all systems you need to do your job properly.
Workload and level of stress are both pretty high.
    Overtime is not paid.
    No traveling or food allowances.
Internal communication can sometimes be a pain.
IBM is very large company so it is hard to be heard and hard work sometimes may not be recognized.

    Advice to Management

Be more open about your staff's ideas.
Pay more attention to everyone's progress from the very start not just in bureaucratic way. Do not rely on numbers when evaluating your people.
