I have been working at IBM (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexibility is great. Numerous full-time work from home jobs. Lots of opportunity to move around the company and try new things.

    Cons

Compensation is terrible. Even the highest rated employees are not given yearly raises to out pace inflation. The company doesn't even offer complimentary water and coffee for employees.

    Advice to Management

Start paying employees fairly. Every smart, ambitious person ultimately leaves the company because of compensation. That just leaves a ton of under performing workers.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Professional, great co-workers, bosses who care.

    Cons

If you do not like to dress professionally, this is not the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Keep running this company in the great way that you do.

    Pros

Stability in an otherwise volatile world filled with lies and deception with everyone looking to stab you in the back.

    Cons

Ludicrous office politics which are most likely unavoidable in a company of this size and stature in the American money machine

    Advice to Management

More cross training/job swaps would be a tremendous benefit to the enite organization from top to bottom in this highly competitive world

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

IBM has some great technology and very solid rank and file employees. Overall benefits are good but are constantly being reduced.

    Cons

Below average salary and pay increases. Excessive management oversight with very little value from them. Very little actual control over success, you can work like a beast and be fired without cause. Very discouraging negative environment.

Most strong sales and marketing persons leave to make more money and not deal with the lack of respect by management.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees timely and accurately. The bonus and commission plan is a joke and you know it.
