I worked at IBM full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

In the past, you were able to move around or work at home but it's now very limited. Since it's a large company you can move around to different areas but saw less of that over the years. Great co-workers

    Cons

Benefits decrease yearly. For example, now the 401k match only done if you are working on Dec 15 of each year. They laid me off in Aug so I lose match for entire year. Used to be a good place to work for a long career but now with layoffs happening 2 times a year, your chances of lasting long are slim. I would recommend working here only 3-5 years then finding a new employer. Just come in to get experience and move...

    Pros

Global company; good benefits; talented work force

    Cons

Perpetual layoffs; no job security; shifting strategies and usually too slow / late into new, potential growth areas

    Advice to Management

Invest in employees and products, not share buybacks. Shift $$$ from marketing into development.

    I worked at IBM full-time

    Pros

Get to put Big Blue's name on your resume

    Cons

Horrible pay. Their sense of entitlement results and employee attrition.

    Advice to Management

Read, learn, respect your employees, since they're the ones who make the company and do all the work. Treat them as an asset, not a liability.

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Many areas to work in. Plenty of training available through Think40. Plenty of remote options (client discretion) that allow for excellent work life balance.

    Cons

Churn can be problematic with contracts and roll offs without much to roll on to. Benefits are less than exciting.
