I worked at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

IBM provides ample opportunities for the growth of its employees. It also puts in a lot of trust in its employees which I found was really motivating.

    Cons

Once you’re in the company, it’s difficult to get good salary hikes. Not impossible though!

    Advice to Management

I was fully satisfied by the management I worked under, so I’d just say keep up the good work!

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you find the right team, there's fantastic management, wonderful working conditions, great pay and cool problems to work on. I love my job.

    Cons

The direction from the company's executives ranges from nonsensical to flat-out counterproductive.

    Advice to Management

Focus less on achieving your vision or competing with Amazon. Focus on the customers. Look at your most effective business units and try to emulate their practices in the rest of the company.

I work from home 5 days a week, no micro managing.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I get to work on some very cutting edge technology. I have learned a lot working here.

    Cons

frequent managment change ( first line manager changes every year). Direction changes every quarter. Frequent layoffs. Every 6 months you wonder if you will still have a Job. many times good engineers are let go, and the ones that stay are less technical, but more 'connected'.

    Advice to Management

retain good talent. look beyond the next shareholders meeting.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wealth of knowledge. Good co-workers. Benefits are competitive except 401k company contribution.

    Cons

Higher ups are out of touch with reality, 5 years of loosing qtrs! 401k plan employee payout is 1 time a year and if IBM decides to cut / RA employee, employee get 0.

    Advice to Management

CFO recently commented on H1B visas and the abuse of the system, yet IBM is #4 on the list for most. Walk the walk and talk the talk
