I have been working at IBM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I've worked for IBM Cloud for over a year and a half and I have really enjoyed every day. We work mostly infrastructure and hardware to expand services in an IaaS environment.

    Cons

There seems to be a fair amount of turn-over for new hires. Most that newly join the company seems to not even know that much about working on home computers. It leads to more advanced techs having to teach about even simple components and proper handling of these components. In the long run, it turns into techs working to advance their career having to spend less time taking the certifications to advance and more time teaching basics over and over.

    Advice to Management

Mangement does a lot right, just wish there was a way to adequately find people that wish to stay with the company for more than a few months.

I have been working at IBM as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent place to start in I.T. IBM offers a wide variety of experience for newcomers in this field of work. Starting pay is okay.

    Cons

Poor communication from higher ups which makes work feel like a Kafkaesque nightmare at times . Hours are very unpredictable.
No opportunity for advancement. After 5 years of working for IBM my pay is the same and the hours are just as unpredictable

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as more than just a number. Try to offer a path forward towards better paying more stable jobs. Have our managers communicate with us more.

I worked at IBM (Less than a year)

    Pros

They have a lot of work and they pay well.

    Cons

They ignore payment terms and pay you whenever they please. Especially if they owe you several thousand dollars. Expect to wait 2 -3 months or longer to be paid. Also, they will ignore all attempts to reach someone to ask about payment.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your contractors on time.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Hard to think of any. Benefits are good, co-workers are awesome people. If your in the right division all is hunky dory.

    Cons

If your not in the right division you are past over for promotions and pay raises. No performance base pay to speak of. Workers are spread to thin to the point of missing SLA's and no one seems to care. Honestly I don't know who IBM still has customers.
