I worked at IBM as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Real responsibility
    - IBM hires hundreds of interns so plenty of other young people in the company
    - Southbank office is well located
    - Encouraged to leave work at work, good work/life balance

    Cons

    - Low pay
    - Mind crushingly dull work
    - All managers seem to use fear and anger as management tools creating hostile working environments
    - Company is slowly dying and going through harsh job cuts, outsourcing and cost cuttinggs programmes.

    Advice to Management

Put people over costs, and make an active effort to reorganise the unnecessary bureaucracy to make employees focus more on clients and less on managing middle-managements expectations.

    I worked at IBM full-time

    Pros

Good graduate scheme with lots of support throughout the two years.
I was lucky to have fantastic line managers

    Cons

A lot of corporate red tape, which is what I would expect for a large organization. Sooo much paperwork when I comes to reviews, promotions etc

    Pros

    good people, products and vision
    good support and training
I liked the culture. People worked well together.

    Cons

none really. I enjoyed my time, worked with good people and projects. I had 2 direct managers, although different in styles, both very good.

    Advice to Management

none really. I left for personal or family reasons, otherwise I would have stayed longer. My experience was we were a well managed business and the company cared about us and the clients.

I have been working at IBM (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Best of IBM 2017! I have just come back from a 'money can't buy' trip to Hawaii. A nomination only event awarded to the highest achieving IBMers of 2016 (and their partners) who have contributed to making IBM the world’s premiere cognitive solutions and cloud platform company.
This event showcased everything that is good about IBM. I have mixed with IBMers from all over the world, hearing about what they did to earn their place on Best of IBM. I have been inspired by IBM's leaders in Services (GTS), Watson and Cloud. I have heard guest speakers who have shared their stories of perseverance, hard work and achievement and I have enjoyed the talents of numerous bands, singers (Jennifer Hudson!!!) and musicians all brought in to entertain us. I also have to mention the unusual chocolates inspired by Chef Watson delivered to our rooms one night.

All of this in the beautiful backdrop of Hawaii. We were treated to some wonderful traditional dancing, chanting and fire-throwing to depict the story of goddess Pele. I have toured the volcanoes and seen active lava flow, I have dived to a depth of 100ft aboard the 'Atlantis' submarine and I have eaten the most delicious food for the entirety of the trip.
Hard work really does get recognised IBM and recognition doesn't get any better than Best of IBM!

    Cons

There is a lot of pressure at IBM to deliver sales on a week by week basis and sometimes the longer game can be lost in our desperation to bring in deals within a particular quarter. This can create interesting behaviour within the management and can impact morale among the troops.

I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance because we have the flexibility to work from home so long as we hit our yearly targets.

    Cons

Bad career prospects internally because it is incredibly difficult to move jobs internally. The people say they do love but they love from one position to a very very similar other. Not real movement, just the illusion of it.

    Advice to Management

    Improve internal movement.

I worked at IBM as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Communication was good, social and great experience, able to work from home and at different locations hours were easy

    Cons

Teams can be spread which leaves some interns lonley and having to seek office space. Work can be sparadical.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for my time there, maybe more Dave to face interaction with interns during the year however I know this isn't the case for all
