I have been working at IBM full-time

    Pros

Some nice and smart people Somewhat Interesting technology Good for someone right out of college to gain experience

    Cons

Constantly changing priorities or lack thereof There is a cover your a** mentality, everything must be documented. Remote teams make it hard to communicate for certain projects. Fear of layoffs every quarter (to fund IBM share buybacks)

I worked at IBM for more than a year

    Pros

It's a Global company with many opportunities.

    Cons

Due to the fact that this is a global company, it is not typical to have off shore meetings and that schedule difference can become difficult for most time zones.

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Competitive salary and outstanding benefits.

    Cons

Some groups are protective of sharing information within their team in order to help secure their jobs. There is much overhead when it comes to being 'IBM compliant' as an employee. Don't expect to get even the simplest things done quickly. Also hard to find good managers that back up and advance their people.

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

IBM offers tremendous growth opportunities for employees. One can have many "mini-careers" all while working for IBM -- examples: sales, management, HR, program management, etc.. They continually invest in their people and provide ongoing education. Better than average compensation, good benefits, etc.

    Cons

Unless you are opposed to working hard for a company who hold Business Conduct, Integrity and Customer Satisfaction to the highest standards, there really aren't any.
