    I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    * Good work/life balance
    * Good at keeping pace with market value for position
    * Great benefits package(401K matches, health care is great)
    * Good upper management

    Cons

    *Typical of all companies with a consulting division, you must keep or exceed a certain number of ours as "billable" to a client to maintain a good standing in the company. Which can be hard if you are between projects or they are "holding" you for another project.

    *You get plenty of vacation, but you better not use it all or your "billable" hours will be affected which could leave you with a bad yearly rating. Remember above statement, that you must maintain a certain amount of billable hours per year. Which can be very high, 90 to 98 percent of the year you must be billable. If you do the math, taking a week or two week vacation coupled with holidays will hurt that rating.

    *Can be hard to get new experience or projects if you are at one project too long

    Advice to Management

    Encourage more growth with your employees and embrace the growth.
