I worked at ICAP full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Salary, you are paid for the abuse you will endure here. Count only the salary as a pro. And pto days

    Cons

They are overly demanding and treat you inhumanly. You are constantly on call and even if you have to take a call in the middle of the night, you are expected to be in the office the next day on time regardless. Also, work from home on the weekends, there is no comp time or reward. bonus will be peanuts. If you see brokertec in the description, don't change jobs for this. Only take it if you have no other options whatsoever. This is a career ending opportunity. Don't take a trading support titled role here. They also fire people for the dumbest reasons, without any warnings, right before bonus time at the end of April. No job security at all. No flexibility at all. No work from home other than weekends which they require. The work itself is same thing over and over.. a lot of downtime where you are just sitting in the office as required. Rotating shifts are a joke. Team lead is anal that each shift be covered to the last minute. (7-4/8-5/9-6/10-7) so when you request a day off and are even 8-5/9-6 you get asked the stupid question of who will cover that shift. In a reasonable environment, the important shifts required are early and late.. there's an overlap that will cover the day shifts. But in this place... extremely stupid....

    Advice to Management

Become human and give some flexibility to the employees.. some have a life outside of work.

I worked at ICAP full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible timings , brilliant people to work with, not strenuous tight timelines, cool environment, good technology stack

    Cons

Management direction missing, invest 2 years in something new, hires lots of people for it, and then suddenly throws everyone onboard, scraps the project , hire and fire culture .

    Advice to Management

Have your plans clear and sound, dont just fire people out of politics, you have been losing good people. Once they hired a CTO and within a year fired him, that poor guy is working as a VP in a bank now

I worked at ICAP as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, great culture. They do a great job of providing their interns insight into what it takes to succeed as a broker/trader.

    Cons

The commute to Jersey City was rough with early morning traffic at times. Also, a lot of down time for the interns.

    Advice to Management

Management does a great job of bringing in new and qualified interns. They could find more ways to include the interns on the day to day responsibilities.!

    Pros

Great people. Friendly, warm, collegiate. Each year they do a 1 day party called Charity Day in which everyone dresses in costume, a dozen celebrities visit the office for autographs and pictures, and the firm donates all the days revenues to charity. Special experience.

    Cons

Headquarters is in London; communications to US offices are often weak.

    Advice to Management

    Improve communications

I have been working at ICAP full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've worked for ICAP for 17 years in two different departments. As a broker, when the desk I was on was not doing well, ICAP helped me to move to another department that I have been able to re-invent myself in and start a new career.

    Cons

There has been a downsizing over the past two years but the market in general has downsized. It is inevitable and ICAP offers their employees tons of help with placement, sponsorship for various licenses, etc. This is not a con but more so a statement to those that will say they let so many go.

    Advice to Management

Not much, I have been treated great in all my years there. Even during a very trying health issue, ICAP was so supportive and took the stress away immediately.

    Cons

Can be slow at times as an intern. Summer hours slow on the floor.

    Advice to Management

No advice to management. They do a great job.
