I worked at ICES Education for more than 2 years

    Pros

This is a great job if you want to gain experience in a teaching/classroom type of setting. The program is very structured and gives you a chance to succeed. The rest is up to you. You get to work with kids and play games most of the time.

    Cons

You only get paid once a month Structure and schedule is often given priority over making a difference for the kids no benefits only part time

    Negative Outlook

I worked at ICES Education part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Kids are great and I met some great teachers, which is beneficial if you are trying to get into the educational workforce.

    Cons

Unorganized, underpaid, if you are subbing they notify you last minute, and they place you based on favoritism.

    Advice to Management

    Get more organized.

    Pros

Nice workers help you, kids are nice sometimes

    Cons

Not organized, some of them are rude employee becuase i work for a school for weeks and they remove me for another coach and i been moving around and it's stressful and why cant they be nicer with new employees and other employees and they are perfectionist

    Advice to Management

Word for advice this management is not ORGANIZED because they only have two hour training if you want people to go to this job aleast do a two week trainings on learning to do a lesson plan and other stuff on the folder and also put new employees to shadow some classes so they can learn what to do. Then the supervisor can put them in the schools they need for a person to fill in. However do I recommend this job? No

I worked at ICES Education part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Helping children improve their learning skills.

    Cons

Minimal training, unrealistic expectations, and students, as well as tutors, are not regarded as they should be.

    Advice to Management

Accountability on behalf of ICES would improve the morale of both, the students and staff in order to obtain ethical results.

    Pros

Small company, good intentions and personable Management staff.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at ICES Education part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Freedom to use your own teaching style, good coworkers. Good hours if you are in school or working a second job.

    Cons

Upper management are always truing to cut already part-time hours. Some of the higher ups try to micromanagement the various sites.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at ICES Education part-time

    Pros

If looking for a part time position that pays fairly well (considering you're in school or live with parents), then the pay is good. If you're a natural creative leader, then you'll have fun implementing your ideas with the math and ELA goals. The CEO is great. She's supportive, and listens to concerns.

    Cons

The compliance side of things is chaotic. Upper management is pretty supportive, but the variables at each site are really dependent on the specific community. The culture of ICES in LBUSD is laidback, and the students are use to essentially doing what they want to do.

    Advice to Management

-ALL of Staff needs week-long training on expectations (behavior, creativity, and this can include staff actually doing activities with each other to gain insight on how situations are handled at other sites). Ideally this should take place 2 weeks before summer programs start, and 2 weeks prior to school starting. 1 week for training, 1 week for cleaning sites out and checking available inventory. -The turn-over...
