I have been working at ICF full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

ICF offers the opportunity to work in some areas that can make a real difference in people’s lives. Cybersecurity, Energy, Climate, Social Programs, and Transportation are just a few of the markets we serve!

    Cons

ICF is not for everyone and some of our leaders are not very nice. In fact, some of our leaders are rude towards other employees. We often hear that ICF does not tolerate mean spirited people, but we continue to employ people who can be overly difficult and obnoxious. This needs to change now!

    Advice to Management

Don't let the bad apples bring down this fantastic firm!

I have been working at ICF full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Everyone seems very nice and personable. The onboarding process was easy and quick. The atmosphere is pleasant, and they allow 2 remotes days a week.

    Cons

I'd prefer the option of having more than 2 remote days since the commute is really bad if you leave after 4pm. The benefits are average and the pay was not exactly competitive.

    Advice to Management

You get what you pay for. I hope annual increases are generous.

    Pros

    Doesn't solicit new business actively

    Cons

Have to pay back training funds even if required for position; salary lower than average; doesn't give all federal holidays

I worked at ICF full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good entry level job out of grad school.

    Cons

Amongst junior level staff there was a lot of cattiness.

    Advice to Management

Manage junior staff better to prevent cattiness.

I worked at ICF full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

the people, the work you do, flexibility, work environment

    Cons

benefits are ok-ish. they seem to be getting worse. New CMO has own agenda and doesn't get to know existing staff and capabilities; also doesn't value flexibility and telecommuting (which is something ICF is proud of).

I have been working at ICF full-time

    Pros

Telework flexibility; newish company = room for growth; if you work hard you will be noticed; bonuses - spot and yearend

    Cons

Billable hours; difficult to find an advocate/mentor (and if you don't, you have to sell yourself, which is hard unless you have totally diversified skills)

    Advice to Management

Be clear upfront when hiring new managers and above of what their requirements are for bringing in money. Listen to your junior staff, because there are quite a few managers and above who do NOTHING and take the credit of junior people.

I have been working at ICF full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Projects are fast-paced and have real-world impact
People are smart so it's a great place to learn best-practices
Friendly-very much a team spirit, not stressful
Fun stuff like picnics, charity events and lots of sports teams
Fairfax office has good facilities-Gym, café, training center and metro shuttle

    Cons

Benefits are fine but only average

    Advice to Management

Wish the leadership would have a more visible presence. Hard to do with 6,000 people and they do try with some meetings and blogs

I have been working at ICF part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Really great people. Lots of contact with high-level government executives. The position has great potential.

    Cons

Onboarding was confusing, although they do try hard to make it work. Pay is low, but that is probably due to the contract's requirements. Figuring out who my boss is has been a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Provide details about how to access key websites for employees who do not use/have an ICF laptop.

    Pros

Flexible work hours and opportunities to work from home when you need to.

    Cons

Limited growth opportunity. None/minimal promotions and raises. People in managerial positions unaware of what they are doing. High turnover.

    Advice to Management

Reward dedicated employees and cut managers who are not doing what they should be doing.
