I have been working at ICF as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Human resources ensures on-boarding is smooth and informative, best experience I've had in my professional career (efforts led by Leslie Taylor and David Parrish). Company has a robust internal communication plan to keep employees engaged, informed and aware of company happenings.

    Cons

Hard to build relationships with team members when working remotely but that's the challenge of consulting, not a product of company.

    Advice to Management

Continue to make employee internal communications at the forefront of business practices.

I have been working at ICF full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good company overall. OK 401k compared to other companies. Great range of projects and groups within the company to expand on project experience.

    Cons

Professional development isn't the greatest. Often having 50+ hour weeks leaving little work/life balance. But, it really depends on the project and/or your client. Middle range staff (Analysts - Associates) often leave the company to leave for more pay.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your staff's professional development. Promote within more often to prevent staff burnout. Since pay is low compared to other companies, give other incentives like flexible work schedules or telework.

    Pros

The culture is good. Everyone is friendly. Good work/life balance. Also, the projects you work on are interesting.

    Cons

Health Insurance plans are bad. (minimum $2000 deductible, which can be decreased to $1000 if you do wellness activities. Still, a PPO option would be preferable.

I worked at ICF (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked at multiple divisions during my time at ICF International. They are all completely different. Some allow you to work from home whenever you want and give their employees total trust and responsibility.

    Cons

Others are suspicious of any request to work from home for a half a day and don't let the employee grow in his or her responsibilities. Completely depends on what division you end up in!

I have been working at ICF (Less than a year)

    Pros

So far it’s only been two weeks but I’m highly impressed with the level of professionalism and work this company provides. Everyone I’ve interacted with seemed very friendly and quick to assist me with any questions or concerns. The ICF benefits are great and the fact that they consider the employee's needs and professional growth is a huge bonus for me.

I would highly recommend this company, they have excellent life & work balance and career growth.

    Cons

One thing I struggled with was the amount of information provided to me electronically during the onboarding process. I would have enjoyed a more one on one approach or a day dedicated for all the new hires. I would rather meet with HR and provide them with everything they need on my 1st day rather than miss something that was sent to me via-email. I understand that may not be feasible given the size of ICF and the ton of work HR does. Aside from that, I really enjoy being a part of a wonderful team!

    Advice to Management

Amazing job, keep doing what you're doing!
