I have been working at ICU Medical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This from a Hospira to Pfizer to ICU perspective. Most people are friendly and enjoyable to work with.

    Cons

Below market salary. No annual pay increases. Bad work/life balance. My manager is a micromanager (some are and some are not). Little to no opportunities for career advancement. Very little communication from San Clemente to Lake Forest. More importantly, lack of communication regarding the strategic direction of the company. It's more than likely ICU will be sold to a proper Pharma company by 2020. CEO is good for investors but not employees. A lot of nepotism and hiring of friends who are useless.

    Advice to Management

Please let us know what your grand plan is. How are we supposed to know how to go about our work if we don't know what goal we are striving for?

    Pros

Pay is average at best nothing special, standard benefits like PTO, 401k, health, vision and dental. Work flow is steady with guranteed 40 hours per week.

    Cons

Terrible communication from management to employees. Not enough chances to grow within the company. Pay is not the best so keep looking else where. Icu medical has to many chiefs and not enough indians.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like people and communicate

I worked at ICU Medical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Reliable paycheck and standard benefits. HQ in San Clemente, with nearby hiking trails, and beach, dining opportunities within a couple of miles. Company gym, financial stability.
    Mostly personable, though frustrated staff.

    Cons

Very little trust in any direction. Political dysfunction, ineffective workplace behaviors, no strategy, and no positive corporate values. Reactive/defensive operating style, overly invested in status quo. Poor communication and broken business processes. Aloof executives unconcerned with functional area capabilities/challenges. No employee recognition and no concern or support for Employee Relations. Poor morale. Rule by management preference and bias rather than values, strategy, or common sense. Poor engagement of staff. Unfulfilled promises to many. In a cost-cutting phase with regard to staff headcount and salaries. No general raises in 2016. High turnover in a number of areas. Top heavy, hierarchical org structure.

I worked at ICU Medical full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The pay is good. They have some great employees. They started a yearly bonus program. I can't think of anything else.

    Cons

First thing, very very unqualified poor management. HR doesn't do much for employees. They do not employ enough people for the tasks. Bad planning, no differential for grave yard. Empty promises, no room to advance with current Management and HR.

    Advice to Management

    Change management

    Pros

There are plenty of opportunities for process improvements, the fruit that remains is still pretty low.

    Cons

Advancement will be a challenge during your employment with ICU - great place to get started but not a home for career driven individuals.

Corporate management continually fails to make the jump from a small startup mentality to mid-sized global company. There is a "them vs. us" mentality that is perpetuated by chronic mistrust and secrecy.

    Advice to Management

Take advantage of the talents you hired, some of the decisions would benefit from a discussion with the folks who will clean up the aftermath.

    Pros

The people I worked with in the department.

    Cons

Incompitent dishonest supervision in tool dept.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to put someone with only working experience in charge. Send them to school to learn how to treat people and be honest.
