I worked at IDEX full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good work life balance. Off shifts are very light. They have a vision of what their future is going to be.

    Cons

For only 100 people there are like 5 people with the title of Vice President of something or other. None of them have the span of control of an actual VP, including one real piece of work who has only one but he treats everyone around him like they're subordinate dirt.

    Advice to Management

Don't treat suppliers and employees like expendable consumables. The bonuses you receive aren't worth the distrust and long term damage to the workforce.

I have been working at IDEX full-time

    Pros

Autonomy in many areas, IF your team performs it receives little attention or micromanagement allowing people to do what they do best with little intervention

    Cons

Incredibly low trust environment, levels which prevent smooth communication flows and two distinct tiers those informed and those outside the know, significantly high turnover at the General Manager and group leader levels, always hire from outside for key roles versus taking risks on people and promoting from within, money matters most no matter the situation layoffs are an annual strategy as people are viewed as levers for cost reduction versus assets which should be protected and laid off only as last resort

    Advice to Management

Get closer to the businesses to know what is working and what isn't, stop 8020 except in specific places or cases, it has not worked except to make IDEX a terrible place to work in many instances, Reduce layers or hierarchy and communicate to people at all levels, stop doing layoffs as an annual event we will never have a trusting environment when this is acceptable practice every year it shows laziness, poor planning and a total disregard for employees who put their all into working hard every day for the company

    I worked at IDEX full-time

    Pros

Good operating model. Good co-workers. Decent benefits. Good salary.

    Cons

It's like a revolving door of upper management. Constant reorganizing and reshuffling at the top makes it hard to get any traction. Upper management is not connected to mid level. You are viewed as a number and not talent to be developed. No talent development plans in place. Work life balance is non-existent.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on developing your people.

I have been working at IDEX full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a paycheck but beyond that it's not a place to be - perhaps a stepping stone. Beyond that there isn't much in the pros section

    Cons

No progression, no support, no guidance or transparency from leadership. Employees have low moral, with all these factors it's hard to be productive.

    Advice to Management

    Investigate ISay employee surveys

I worked at IDEX full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Small-business feel - great coworkers, decent salary, good benefits. Hospitable work environment, great work schedule with no weekends or after-hours shifts, and minimal required overtime.

    Cons

Unstable management - continuously changing key players with upheaval in strategy and philosophy. Created a consistent atmosphere of insecurity. Witnessed some situations of favoritism and unfair treatment.

    Advice to Management

Would be a great place to work if the management would remain in place long enough to establish stability to the company and stability, security, and positivity to the workers.

I worked at IDEX full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decentralized management structure and not afraid of investing in resources to get the job done. Good healthcare package and return on stocks.

    Cons

Constant restructuring so you never know from one day to the next if they're going to fire 10 people or so. It didn't seem to matter where in the organization you were they'd cut people loose. The company was restructured 2 or 3 times my last year there. Merit increases went anywhere from 1% to 3% depending on what mood they were in. There are almost no employees in the office with more than 10 years experience. Most fall into the 5-7 year window and then you have a few with 20+ years but nothing in between. The last 3 years we had stopped developing any new products. We were finishing up things that had started but nothing new was in the works. Everything engineering was doing feasibility studies on over the last 2 years was killed at the first management review. Doesn't seem to follow the IDEX motto of innovation.

    Advice to Management

Spend the time and money to develop your people. When I started it was a fun place to work but over time the policies that were enacted sucked the motivation out of everybody that I worked closely with.
